Yes, to err is human ...and we all err. But, as we saw evidence from World War I & II ...an era of error may lead to terror.

So often we view things by sight ...and look to the physical.

We use more sight than insight much of the time.

I live in Southeast Michigan ...yet, I was raised in the Upper Peninsula, on the western end. Yes, I'm still a Packer fan. Green Bay is a lot closer to my hometown than Detroit.  But, I do cheer for the Lions (when they aren't playing the Packers).

Detroit Lion fans have seen some promising teams, but they get frustrated often with falling short in the play-offs.  The coach is one of the first ones blamed, but who do you think is the next one criticized??

Yes, the leader ...the quarterback.  I think Matthew Stafford is a good quarterback ...and I like him as a quarterback.  I've followed football for years ...and I believe the Lions struggle with their play calling.  But, all that aside, what most people look to ...is results.

Yes, often if we don't see results ...we don't think as much of someone. And they don't get as big of a paycheck either ...as their value has been diminished in the eyes of many.

In politics, power often is very important also ...as it is in many big businesses.

If you live in a high crime neighborhood ...you may decide to get a big dog.  Maybe two dogs would be well suited for the situation ...a small hyper dog to make a lot of noise, and a big dog to be lurking in the shadows.

Size, power, effectiveness ...all play into the value placed upon many aspects of our lives. Those qualities often hold respect.   So, what kind of value and respect do you think a powerful angel has towards us humans??

Looking merely at the standards mentioned, we'd almost think of ourselves like a worm, compared to them.

We could say that a worm-like caterpillar becomes a butterfly ...but how do you compare the flight of a butterfly to that of an angel??  Even with humans, delicate beauty could be considered a weakness.  And our often indecisiveness in & out of sin ...is sort of like fluttering.

Though one group of angels may look at us this way, the angels that didn't rebel ...may just hold a bit of respect, seeing as God said He Created us in His Image.

I believe God created two different 'beings' to have special knowledge of Him.  There are different references within the Bible, but that in no way should be looked at as a contradiction. To my understanding, the Sons of God, ...are both the angels who did not rebel against Him, and we humans who accept Him for who He is.  Why did God create these two special groups? And what is the reason for creating one before the other?

Of course, God knows what is going to happen. And I'm thankful I was created weak like a worm ...with high hopes and future aspirations.  I would hope I would've appreciated having much power and splendor ...but, I don't know how I would have reacted, had I been created an angel. I'm glad God created me a more humble 'being' ...though I have to work at remaining one, at times.

Yes, you may tire of me talking about God ...but, I believe we need to seriously look to Jesus as our Savior, more often than just in song during that extended period of music for Christmas shoppers.

Why is it important??

How much do we really know about death??  And are we confident with what we know??

When Jesus spoke to His disciples, He told them they could not serve two masters.  This is sound advice.  Jesus did not have them gather around Him, like a camp leader who plans to build a campfire at night ...so, he can tell scary stories.

So, no, when Jesus tells a story ...the purpose is not to scare, though it perhaps should scare some of us enough to seriously change our play calling.   But, however we choose to react to it ...we should take the Word of God seriously, inclusive of what Jesus said.

Jesus did not aim to entertain ...but, to inform. And though He did not address so many social issues, He did have an answer for those who challenged Him.  Those who mostly challenged Him were not of the Roman government, but were those who said they followed God.  Jesus said over & over again, that He and the Father are One.  So, the sin designation did not change ...just the way it was dealt with.

Here is one thing Jesus told of:

“There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’

But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’

Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’

Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’

And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

* * * * * * * Yes, Moses and the prophets ...the written Word of God, and Jesus, who did rise from the dead, to verify it all.  Yes, Jesus, made the provision we desperately need, so we can be forgiven of our sins.

All for what??

So, we can be heirs ... and live not in error, but instead realize we can live for eternity in His Kingdom.

Lazarus can't tell you ...but, the Word of God does. And I guess I'm telling you too, as I believe what the Bible says ...and what it says that Jesus said. * * * * * * *
